MIEC’s Partnership with ECRI Institute

To further enhance the quality of up-to-date information we provide to our members, MIEC has partnered with ECRI Institute. ECRI Institute is an independent, nonprofit agency with a component Patient Safety Organization, which serves over 5,000 healthcare clients nationally and internationally. ECRI‘s team comprises an interdisciplinary staff of 450 individuals with patient safety, quality and risk management, clinical, legal, information technology, human factors, education, engineering, and science backgrounds.

ECRI Institute maintains a clearinghouse of practice risk management and patient safety tools, sample policies and procedures, forms, checklists, assessment questionnaires (SAQs), education/training programs and guidance articles. Topics including communication, infection control, medication safety, and office administration through are addressed through evidence-based reviews. Through our partnership with ECRI, MIEC can provide these proprietary resources directly to our members upon request.

ECRI also publishes the biweekly Physician Practice Enews, which is available to MIEC members and includes an average of 10-14 news items comprising a blend of patient safety and risk management information. Information is oriented to both clinical and general office practice, and includes: In the News, Patient Relations & Safety, Professional Development/Education, ECRI Institute News, Worker/Environmental Safety, Hazards and Recalls, Legal/Regulatory, Standards/Guidelines and others.
