Tailored Practice Support

MIEC’s staff of certified professional healthcare risk managers offer tailored advice, support, and resources for member medical practices.
PSRM staff are available to offer direct advice or information on request, offer guidance and feedback on various practice management issues such as records management, office policies and procedures, and informed consent; members also have direct access to additional resources through ECRI. PSRM also offers customized practice surveys, either as a detailed self-evaluation or in-person with a staff member. PSRM staff offer presentations to MIEC members, both virtually and in-person, and are available to give presentations on request as well as offering frequent webinars through our partners, including Candello.

ECRI
MIEC partners with ECRI, a nonprofit healthcare research organization and Patient Safety Organization (PSO) that provides risk management resources such as practice toolkits, sample policies/forms, guidance articles, self-assessment questionnaires, and educational tools for healthcare providers.
MIEC members can directly access and download materials from ECRI’s Ambulatory Care Risk Management resource library here (MIEC login required).
Data Partners
MIEC is proud to partner with several leading organizations that provide analysis of MPL claims and medical practice data to guide patient safety efforts and member education:
Candello provides clinical coding and analysis of claims data, as well as access to benchmarking of MPL claims data against a national database of almost 500,000 claims from MPL carriers, hospitals, and health systems across the country. Candello member organizations share patient safety solutions driven by lessons learned from claims data, and these lessons are regularly communicated through publications and live webinars which are available to MIEC members.
MPL Association Data Sharing Project (DSP) includes a database of over 350,000 medical and dental professional liability claims submitted by member MPL carriers. The DSP provides claim snapshots, analytic studies, and an interactive dashboard to compare claims data against national aggregate data to enhance risk management programs.
Preverity provides insight into liability reduction informed by patterns in healthcare billing and medication prescribing. MIEC incorporates Preverity information with claims data sources to help describe the drivers of liability risk in various medical specialties and focus PSRM educational efforts.
Presentations
PSRM specialists present seminars and webinars on a wide array of topics covering practice management, regulatory/legal compliance, and protective documentation for physicians, acupuncturists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and office staff. Topics include telehealth, clinical scope of practice, documentation strategies, informed consent, and more.
