California Medical Association
The California Medical Association (CMA) is a professional organization that represents physicians in California. Founded in 1856, CMA was created by a small group of physicians to advocate for their patients and profession.
Leaders in the California physicians community, the CMA, which was originally known as the Medical Society of the State of California, was established as a means to manage the challenges of establishing health professional standards, deal with epidemics of contagious disease, and expose the precarious labor of unlicensed/unqualified medical practitioners. Serving over 43,000 physician members in all modes of medical practice, the CMA continues to dedicate itself to serve its members through various means of advocacy.
